Originally from the Richmond District in SF, Alex is a Northern Californian, on the most part. Having grown up in the Russian community back in San Fran, he’s no stranger to those who share his nationality—and those who respect him for who he really is. He tries his best to stay out of trouble as much as possible, due to the fact that he knows of the hardships his parents endured when they first came to America in 1991, shortly before the fall of the USSR.
While quiet on the most part, he has an uncanny sense of intuition—inherited from his mother Tatiana. He’s not as smart as his workaholic father Ivan, but he gets by as best as he can manage. He’s a devoted (dedicated, actually) ice skater, and he hopes to all hell that nobody in Ridgeview finds out about it—it’s one of his few outlets where he can truly relax and let all the walls he puts up down as he glides out on the ice.
Despite his one passion being on the expensive side, he’s taken up a part-time job as a pizza delivery guy during the weekends, in order to get extra cash (ice skating is definitely not cheap) so as to help lessen the load of his parents paying for his one venture that makes him happy.
While he’s participated and won small-scale competitions held back in San Fran; he has yet to debut on the state-wide level, as he wants to be absolutely certain he’s capable enough before moving forward to the Seniors division (he’s currently one of the top-ranking Junior-level ice skaters in California, for those who are in the know).
If one takes the time to get to know Alex, he’s got many stories to tell. He has several interests; one of which is astronomy. Catch his attention with that (and the Space Race in particular) and you’ll have someone to easily talk to. He’s also trying to self-study Japanese, since he… well, let’s face it, he likes the culture that comes with it (asides from his own heritage).
And no, he can’t get you free pizzas from the place where he works. He can get discounts, yes, but certainly not freebies!
He’s also very knowledgeable on superstitions, so he’s got a bit of a kooky side when it comes to that. Broken mirrors, black cats out on the road, four-leaf clovers… you name it he knows it all. While he’s guarded on the most part—due to his earlier years—once you get to know him, he can be a trustworthy friend… or at the very least, a capable study partner for History classes!

Although he prefers to be alone on the most part, it would take a lot to get him angry, since his fuse is much longer than most. One of the easiest ways to do that, though, is
if you call either him or his parents Commies
to be a racist towards him and his family. He’s had to endure quite a lot of bullying from earlier years, mostly because of his heritage.
He can (and will) hold grudges, especially if it’s his (or his family’s) pride as a Russian that gets insulted… well, be prepared to be on the receiving end of a wall of cuss words.
Russian cuss words to be exact
He has a creepy smile of his own, but very few people get to see it—because said creepy smile is reserved for when he’s about to reach his breaking point. He’s not physically violent by any means; he’d just cuss whoever earned his ire out in a deepening voice…
With rivalries, he doesn’t have too many to think of… well, except fellow ice skaters he knows in the San Fran area. He has yet to encounter another who ice skates like him on a regular basis in Peachtree, so there’s something there that can be filled.

He’s still new to the notion of exploring his emotions; although one thing for certain is that he finds the very idea of boys going out with girls a little more than strange. It’s not that he hates girls, he just finds the way they act around guys rather strange, for the most part (put it down to watching one too many cheesy “chick flicks” where the girl gets dumped after the guy finds someone else).
However, when it comes to looking at a fellow guy, he can’t help but feel… giddy. Light-headed, if you may. There’s something about guys that he can’t quite put down on; something that he finds intriguing—if not downright interesting. Even if he doesn’t attract too much attention to himself, he’s got quite an eye… for a fellow guy.
But of course, it’d take a while for him to realize that he’s actually gay. When he does find out about it, he’d rather keep it a secret—especially from his family, since he doesn’t know how they would react if and when they find out their only son isn’t really into girls. He’d definitely have crushes here and there, but due to him being inside the closet, it would take some time for him to realize that his preferences lie on the rainbow side of the spectrum.
