Presented in convenient bullet-point format: Rio Williams, A history.
☆ He was conceived by his parents during a Duran-Duran concert, hence the name.
☆ Rio's mother tells everyone she knows, and it's about as embarrassing as you'd expect.
☆ Early on in his childhood he was pretty well liked, and very social. He put a lot of energy into school and making friends, which was fine at first.
☆ As he got older, his energy never waned, and his overwhelming enthusiasm was beginning to annoy the other kids, up to the point where they would go out of their way to avoid him.
☆ His personality, something that once garnered him lots of friends and a happy life, suddenly made him unlikable.
☆ Rio was unable to comprehend it at the time, he was just doing what he had always done, he was just being friendly.
☆ In his Freshman year of middle school, he was hit with a wave of self-consciousness that caused him to isolate himself.
☆ He was embarrassed by his own actions, as he had come to believe that he was acting like an idiot and everyone had been laughing at him when he wasn't paying attention.
☆ Rio turned to three things when this occurred: his computer, his cats, and his mom's old cds.
☆ His parents worried about him. He spent every free hour of his time online, shut in his room, only emerging to eat or go to school. He had no nearby friends.
☆ Online, Rio found that he was much more popular. He could find people that were in the same situation he was in, and people who loved cats as much as did.
☆ His Freshman year of Highschool, he started his own cat blog, where he posted pictures and helpful information. Small at first, but growing in notoriety as time would go on.
☆ As for his social life... It was non-existent. He'd become cold and distant from everyone around him, and still is generally avoided.
☆ People who try to talk to him get ignored or end up with their feelings hurt. He does this intentionally, he doesn't want to risk getting mocked by trying to re-integrate with everyone else.
☆ He invests his time in IT classes and self-teaching himself the ins and outs of technology, and he's become fairly skilled, though he's by no means a professional just yet.
☆ Rio's cat blog is among the most popular resources for cat owners and general cat fanatics, and one of his greatest priorities is to make sure no one in his school finds out he runs it.
